My name is Jay Tankersley and I am 46 years old. At the age of 41, I was diagnosed with Head and Neck cancer, (tonsil cancer that metastasized into my lymph node gland). I was given a 30 % chance of survival upon diagnoses that later went to zero percent chance of survival after getting a blood clot in my knee that required me to get on blood thinners. The blood thinners made it impossible to do the surgery required to remove the golf ball size lump in my neck. I then sought out a second opinion from MD Anderson in Houston. They helped design a chemotherapy and radiation treatment that ultimately saved my life. Since treatments, I felt a strong desire to give back to those suffering from this dreadful disease. I have written a book called “What You Need To Learn At Cancer University” and developed a website at www.freecancerpain.com to help others with support, faith and knowledge about cancer. “What You Need To Learn At Cancer University” was written from the perspective that cancer can lead you down paths that can actually realigns your life with God, family as well as your personal priorities. It is my hope that I can help as many people as possible not only survive but thrive after cancer.
