Cancer Type: UTERINE
Diagnosis: Hi, it is now July 10, 2003, and this is my third time to write in since my hysterectomy, Nov 24, 1999 and my second recurrence and surgery was March 14, 2003, and now my third recurrence June of 2003 again. A 6cm tumor was found in my left pelvis , in the same area as the second surgery.
Chemo Drugs: The chemo drug to treat the second surgery in April of 2003 was carboplatin. Carboplatin was done for the 3rd time, and developed an awful reaction , we thought since I wore a girdle. Burning in the stomach, nauseauted, gagging, dizzy and my right hip was killing me. Couldn't sit still for the sensation of being so sick, kept me on the edge of my seat and it was an awful feeling. Finally the doctor gave me some more medicine and we finally finished up the chemo, I left the office bright red. Then the 4th carboplatin, my stomach was burning after 5 minutes and my face started flushing and started bright beet red, soon my arms and hands, and then the rest of the body.

Finally the doctor said, no more, you are allergic again. Taxol I was allergic to after the second time, and 14 treatments of carboplatin, no more.
Treatment: A catscan was ordered since my markers had rose 19 points and a 6 cm tumor was present in my left pelvis by my illac wall muscle. The oncologist sent me to a radiologist, and now we will radiate the grapefrui size tumor down to a golf ball, and between 3 doctors we will see what they want to do. My surgeon wants me to do chemo, no more surgeries, too soon after the last one. When I left my oncologist 3 weeks ago, he wanted to get the tumor small enough, and try and do doxil. The radiologist wants surgery to remove the rest of tumor.
Quality of Life: My quality of life has been good. I sleep in and go to work about 10 or so at the flower shop and work till 5:00. I am able to eat, take sleeping pills to get rest at night, which doesn't work half the time.

The only pain is my back on the opposite side of my cancer hip. It only gives me pain at night while sleeping,
Information Gathering: I've read and talked to other ladies, especially with ovarian cancer. There are not very many stage IV uterine cancer patient, papillary serous.

The doctor is amazed I am still alive and going. The energizer bunny keeps hopping back.

General Comments: I now have a buyer for my flower shop, and need to get out from the stress of it. It should close by Sept 29 and then we will have enough money to pay off our home and credit card and the loan on the new building. God has been so good to us.
