Cancer Type: UTERINE
Diagnosis: My Mother was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer 2 years ago (age 71 at that time). After doing a full hysterectomy, the Dr.s found some of the surrounding lymph nodes cancerous. She was administered 600mg. of Carboplatin and 230mg. of Taxol. She had six treatments at 3 week intervals. Miraculously she handled the chemo pretty well (aside from developing Shingles, total hair loss and feeling fatigue). She was cancer free for two years and has just recently been diagnosed with a small tumor in a lymph node near the kidneys. The treatment being offered now is Radiation, but we are very fearful of this, as my Mom is overweight and the Dr.s are afraid the treatments may do damage to her kidney, bladder and/or bowels. I welcome all shared experiences and suggestions.I'm curious what to expect and am intersted in hearing about any alternative avenues. Recently I've heard about the new Cyberknife procedure which is an extrememly precise radiation procedure recently approved by the FDA.I have written to the company with my questions but have not received a response yet. Does anyone have info on this and can it be utilized by Uterine Cancer patients?
