Cancer Type: UTERINE
Diagnosis: Endometrial adenocarcinoma stage IV
Chemo Drugs: Taxol, Carboplatin, Doxil
Treatment: 8 rounds of chemo with carboplatin/taxol, followed by 6 weeks of abdominal and neck radiation, now just completed one treatment with Doxil.
Quality of Life: I have continued to work and support my family throughout this past year. This is my third posting on this site, to update my story. My last update was in November and it is now 5/1/02. I did have radiation starting in early December and continuing until the end of January. My CT scan looked good, but there was/is a node in my neck which has refused to stay down. The latest treatment is with a newer drug, Doxil, with which I haven't felt sick or lost my hair..had the treatment 3 weeks ago..only every 4 weeks with this drug. I did experience an allergic reaction when the nurse started the iv, and she had to stop and give my hydrocortisone and benydryl, and then waited a little while and started it again more slowly. Then I was fine.
Information Gathering: Still continue to seek info about new treatments, drugs, clinical trials, etc. My oncologist waits for my questions and knows that I will know what he is talking about!!
General Comments: I am determined to live as long as possible in the best frame of mind that I possibly can. I am the supporter of my family and I cannot fail them.. this keeps me strong and going on...I am needed.
