Experience Details
Date Entered at Shared Experience: 11/06/2001
Cancer Type: UTERINE
Diagnosis: Stage 4 endometrial adenocarcinoma
Chemo Drugs: Taxol and carboplatin
Treatment: 8 rounds of iv chemo...1 treatment every 3 weeks or so.
Quality of Life: Good..usually feel pretty poor for about a week after the chemo, but bounce back ok. Have had some tingling and loss of feeling in my toes and fingers (side effects of the taxol)and loss of almost all hair.
Information Gathering: My sister and older daughter bought me lots of books, and the internet is invaluable for getting information.
General Comments: I reported here in May before I decided what course of action to take. Have proceeded with my doctors here in CT after consulting elsewhere. After 8 rounds of chemo, I don't know what the next step will be. I had a second biopsy of lymph node in my neck, which was also positive. The CAT scans have shown "significant improvement" but the cancer is still present. I still refuse to give up, and either do my doctors. I continue to work (preschool teacher) and go about my business, and most people I meet don't even know that I have cancer. I wear a wig to school every day, but can't wait to ditch it once I get home!! My energy level is good, and I try to exercise (walk) and am taking a yoga class.
