Print and radio ads across the country asking all cancer survivors to share their experience so that hope is kindled for the recently diagnosed. Can you imagine if 200,000 people all added their own experience, in their own words. Print and radio can easily reach these numbers of people. When I get cancer, I sure would like to read through the experiences of hundreds of people who had my type of cancer and especially the experiences of those who have been through the treatment I was contemplating undergoing.
A web-based transparent accounting system so visitors and donors can see where each dollar goes. Would like a completely automated process where every deposit to a bank by donors is traced and visible to anyone. If someone donates money they can see exactly how it was spent, and I mean literally see deposit in bank and then payment to whatever vendor/supplier being paid for a service. It doesn't seem like much of a programming effort to check bank activity each day and display it with a short explanatory note that was addeed to a web page after deposits/payments. I have always wondered why this isn't done with all charitable organizations.
LASSO or Filemaker programming. Currently we use LASSO, but the latest versions of Filemaker would be adequate to built out a more intelligent site that helped visitors. For example, if a user does several searches, it would be very nice to have the computer make further suggestions for their search. And of course it would be helpfu l if users could click a button that says "Save this search" for when they returned to the site. If someone with programming skill contacted me, I could go on at great length about how to improve visitor experience and searching. For those without programming skills, but with money and a desire to see work done, I know of several skilled programmers we can hire for around $75 an hour. Any one of the features I would like to create could be done in 4-20 hours.
